IMO, Guard is so much better than Armor. You can always party a Spearman for extra defence and hp/mp

I couldn't really understand all of that. But 40 Weapon defence takes off maybe 10-25 damage. Not sure.

With a Fire Wiz, you can max everything and have 1 in Slow, if you want. Guard is better because you can take down bigger monsters such as Crimson Rog, Jr. Rog, and Spears. etc.

but doesnt fire wiz need slow? since they dun have the freezing effects like ice wizes.............

the estimated formula for weapon defense is 3 weapon defense reduces 1 damage. so 40 weapon defense would reduce damage by 13-14 points. 13-14 points isn't going to save you when you're up against high-lvl monsters who do more damage than your max HP. but magic guard will, even though you'll end up using pots like crazy (one of the reasons mages suck at the end--low HP).

Not a lot of people use magic armor. It's old fashioned. :]

Yes and no. Most of the high leveled Fire/Poison (with both maxed out) @ lvl 70 I see don't use slow. I myself have never seen Slow used in a regular basis during someone's training/powerleveling.

Definetly magic guard since 40 def won't even save you from a monkey invasion.

Monkey invasion?

Gaurd really comes in handy when your in a tight situation. Especially if your finding it hard controlling a mob and the mob tends to come at you more often gaurd will increase the chances of you not using more pots.

Maybe Guard is handy, but it's useless for Clerics. You sacrifice that precious MP for HP, something you can get back just by Healing every once in awhile.

Magic Guard is usually only used in those "1hitkilledmeohmygosh" monsters.. normal training it usually isn't casted.

DEFINATELY magic guard for poison wiz cuz at higher lvls u dont need to worry about MP because ull pretty much only need 2 hits to kill anything; 1st one to posion and the second to finish the job.

I had a level 67 cleric. Ever try soloing a Maci, Spear, or Jr. Rog with M. Armor? Don't f*cking think so.

I'm guessing you A.)Don't play a cleric and B.) Have never ever ever encountered a Crimson Balrog or Jr Balrog? Let alone anything higher level than a slime?

Let's see here, Armour is Useless because it only takes away 10-14 damage anyway, and Guard will keep you from getting SLAUGHTERED because your HEAL is absolutely USELESS whe your being hit for 2400 points of damage. Not only that, but Armour does not stack with Bless.

I've got 2 45 Mages, 1 Cleric, 1 Firewizard, I'm certainly glad I had guard on my last trip to Orbis because I wasn't paying attention in the Crows Nest and got clipped by the Balrogs wing. If I'd had Armour cast I'd have been toast.

Not to mention that in Mob Groups Guard helps to make a Cleric Invincible. Guard + Bless + Invincible + MPEater + Heal means you won't be dying anytme soon. Especially when Shining Ray is released as you won't be limited to Undead Monsters.

That's nice. I didn't ask to be insulted, I was just giving my opinion. I don't use Armor either, my points are in Guard, but I never use it. I AM a Cleric for your info. Albeit, I've never soloed anything giant, but I'm lv. 40 and I never use Guard for diddly.

Thanks for the info, but you could've been nicer about it. Both of you...-_-'

Totally agreed. Magic Guard is crucial for clerics when partying in sancts and crimson.

Magic Guard!

I use Magic Guard even though I'm just a level 27 Mage (soon-to-be cleric). I fight things that are a bit out of range for my level (ie: Drakes, Lunar Pixies, Luster Pixies) and if I didn't use Magic Guard, I'd get creamed in one hit (possibly two depending on how happy they feel). Granted, I've stopped fighting higher leveled monsters - but it's obvious that Magic Guard is meant to be used against monster that do massive physical damage.

That's a pretty tough monster list you got there... Fighting Drakes is a bit out of your league isn't it? I mean people don't start training on those until level 32-35. But I guess it's quite possible to train on them at that level.
