This is not RIGHT, we must protest this gross injustice perpetrated against us! I'm joining Parallax in the Hall of Broken Weapons. My poor perfect Crescent that I saved up for had 1/7 60% scrolls work on it. Now it's ruined.

Its actually how most games do it. Take MU for an example. You fail adding strength t a weapon, you have to face the consenqueces.

xD Yeah sure, fame and usage. Right. I was hacking things with my perfect Niam for a week and had over 30 fame and all the scrolls failed on it. There goes your theory.

And that is messed up, if a scroll fails it shouldn't take a slot away. I knew the slots would disappear if they failed so I wasn't that angry because I knew what I was risking, but you didn't know the slots disappeared so I can only imagine how pissed off you got, Rev...

Same thing happened with my neighbor and his lv25 warrior top [He likes the red and black scheme xP]. 2 scrolls in a row and the third failed so he used some 60s and now that top is stronger than the lv 40 stuff..*******...xD

fame has nothing to do with it, as of now, fame doesnt do ANYTHING, other than some requirement for some equipment but the highest is either 10 or 20 i cant remember, fame also will decide if you can start a guild or not, but guilds dont exist yet either

I knew it had a % success rate, I was fine with that, what I'm NOT fine with is the fact that a failed attempt removes a slot from the weapon. With the limited availability (and insane price) of scrolls and weapons it's damned near impossible to scroll anything worthwhile. I saved up a TON of money for this (at least a ton in my opinion) and then I got really excited and started scrolling, FINALLY my warrior was going to kick some tail. I was fine with the five that failed, I can always find more money for scrolls someday, but the weapon itself is rare and I"m unlikely to find another, and if I do? It will probably just get ruined like the first one, and then I"ll be out a ton more money. My next weapon? The Nine Dragons, average cost? 3mill for a ghetto one, 15 mill for a nice scrolled one. IF I spend 3-7 mill on an unscrolled one and another 2.5mill on just scrolls and they all fail? Where will I be then? What the hell is the fun in that?

Right now levelling is SO ungodly slow on a warrior, I'm at a Plateau, my damage will not significantly increase for another 7 levels, and only then provided I find a good 9D. This is the point everyone comes to at one time or another, only since I have 9 characters I seem to be approaching it on quite a few of them. I'm too strong to train at one place and level in any sort of speedy fashion, and too weak to go anywhere else to make levelling efficient. My only option is to either hold out with the slow levelling or try to find a way to increase my damage to a point where I can be stable elsewhere.

Don't get me wrong, I know all about slow levelling, I have 9 Mid-Level (35-50) characters, from 40-50 I levelled my cleric at the Monkey Swamp, from 25-35 my Assassin and my Banditsin both had Mokbis and Guards, my Firemage is STILL at Jr Pepes at level 44, lets not even get into my Xbowman or Lightmage.

The point of my whole rant it Wizet needs to take better care of their players, make the Grind a little more worthwhile. Fix up the party system, fix up the Death Toll XP Loss, Give us 3rd Jobs for crying out loud, Fix Item Drops to be more realistic or at give us SOMETHING for here, it's not like we're asking for the WORLD on a plate. We don't need a stupid 1 attack flag to whipe our arses with. We need some recognition of the playerbase as a whole that says "Hey, we're here with you, we love this game as much as you do and we're doing our best to make sure that our loyal fans are happy."

I realize porting the game from Japanese to English isn't going to be that easy and Cash Shop will take a bit of work, but some of this stuff isn't very difficult at all. They just don't care for what we, the playerbase, have to say. Look at their official forums for crying out loud! The only way we can make ourselves known is to mass email them and complain. But some of this stuff would be so rediculously easy to fix if they had a small team of people willing to at least consider it.

I'm not saying everything should be super easy to find either, just a little more realistic and evenly based. To have it ONLY dropped via a level 25 quest or Jr. Balrog ends up with situations like this and poor n00b's getting scammed daily on their weapon scrolls. I had a guy brag yesterday that he made FORTY MILLION MESOS scamming n00bs for their scrolls from Janes Quest.

Higher level players have to resort to scamming newer players in order to get anywhere, sure if the scrolls were more common they wouldn't cost as much, but right now the poor *******s are selling wand and claw scrolls for 30-60k anyway.

So now I'm reduced to wandering around killing random things as I do favors for people. I would go train on leattys but hey, no money for potions or the ride to the tower. I've died 30 times 30 TIMES!! at 10-15 percent because I just can't afford potions to use in emergencies anymore. I have to rely on equips to drop so I can trade them in for potions.

:P Of course it will never happens. Dont complain about death penalty, at least u dont lose ur hard-earned equipment and i know some MMORPGs developers wanna make permanent death, PERMANENT.
The way of scrolling system is fine with me. Like Satarel said, in MU if u failed u even got ur item lvl reduced >.< or in other games u even got it destroyed, gone. And no players in those games complain that much either.

I figure I'll play MS for a few more months until I get my computer replaced (My desktop was destroyed in transit from Hawaii to the continental US and shipping company refuses to pay for it as "They dont know exactly where and what happened") and then I'll probably play something else.

And Permanent Death will never happen. Gamers would never tolerate it. I've beta tested nearly every popular MMORPG since Ultima Online and that's always been something that's thrown around. Just another Urban Myth.

And so far as other games ruining weapons for upgrading, well screw those games too, I know we don't have weapon degradation or wear and tear or anything, but most other games don't give you such a high % chance to fail, and if they DO the components to get another weapon are more readily available to you.

So far, Jr Yeti, Croco and Yeti drop Crescents. We don't even HAVE people high enough level yet to kill those frequently, even if they did drop semi-regularly with good stats.

In order to scroll it, you have a chance to get a 10% from Evil Eyes (in which case you have a 90% chance to fail and your removing a slot...) and thats the only monster you can kill en mass and even hope it drops one.

The only way to get a 60% is to hope some sucker scammed enough n00bs to get you 7 of them or someones been killing a LOT of Tauromacis' because nobody's going to slaughter Jr Balrog or Crimson Rog for 10%' and even then Polearms are one of the most sought after class thanks to the 9D and Dragons Roar. So those poor n00bs are being scammed all day every day.

Thanks but I'd take another games upgrading system over this any day. Crafting in this game should at LEAST give you a % chance to get a better quality weapon like in every other game. Poor, Average, Above Average. Do it enough times you'll get a perfect weapon. It wouldn't be that hard to change around the Synthesize code for that, or to alter the list of drops to make this a bit more realistic.

Well, people hack regular items all the time, so it's conceivable that they can alter a scroll item to work at a better % rate.

But if they're hacking in the first place, then I don't see why they wouldn't just go and hack the item they want to enhance instead of hacking the scrolls for it.

What there should be is a way to remove all enchantments from an item and restore its upgrades, that way when you get screwed by using 7 60% scrolls on an item and none of them work, you can just clean it and try again.

Scrolls are the only things in the game that actually make equipment specific to a person.

Because most of those values are server side and you can only alter client side values (until the CRC check comes along and disconnects you, anything permanent is already Server Side value) and even then it's iffy, you'd have to find the correct values and hope nobody noticed.
